I have to be perfectly honest and say I don’t mind a one loss team being ranked ahead of an undefeated team. Did anyone believe in 2000 that the Mariners were the best team in baseball just because they had the best regular season record (ever?!) Will the team with the best regular season record in the NFL be the odds on favorite to win the super bowl? (possibly not) In no other sport, certainly not professionally do we consider a teams record to be a direct indication of whether they are the champion of the league. It just puts them in position to be the best team. i.e. you finish the season with the best record you then get a chance through a neat thing called the playoffs to substantiate that record. If you’re not going to involve the best teams then don’t involve anyone and let the debate begin after the game is played…
What the hell am I talking about? Either go back to the original bowl system…Ohio St. plays USC in the Rose Bowl etc…Or start a playoff system. The in-between is equivalent to going to a strip club in Boston. And if you haven’t been let me ask you this…would you like to spend 20 bucks on cover, 12 bucks on drinks and another 20 bucks to have some overpriced hooker spin around in front of you for half a song? It’s called a gentleman’s club but you can’t fool me Boston! You’re a poor excuse for a good time…Just like the BCS.
