Its great to be a Bears or Colts fan today. Party all night, sleep in, and get up in time for the Superbowl. We are planning on doing the same thing just sans the team to root for tomorrow night. But if you are like us, and you most be or why in the fuck heck are you reading this, then you are having trouble figuring out who to cheer for, well we are hear to help. Surely if you are a sports fan you have experienced all the great stories dug up about tomorrow nights particpants, and sometimes these give us someone to cheer for. No other event gives us 2 weeks to dive into the personal lives of these gridiron folk like the Superbowl. For most it is overboard, but for the true sports fan it is a unique chance to look beyond the game and into the individuals. To summarize, we have heard the tearjerking stories, like Joe Addai and his crippled friend. The cutesy stories like Peyton and his junior high tango, the enduring ones, like Tony’s son, the racial breakthrough stories about TD and Lovie, but now let us look at how the game effects us, Continue Reading to find out.
XLI Umtailgate connections and random intrigue to watch for tomorrow.
#1 Super Bowl Shuffle superstars
Grant it this has nothing to do with us but we all remember growing up in the 80’s and Jim McMahon convincing these fools to act like the biggest dorks of all time. Surely many of these characters will be at the game and surely the network will plaster their face on the tube at some time during the 1000 hours of coverage. And this reminisance of the 80’s also relates to the Umtailgate family, as tonight, the night before the Superbowl, Baby Gorilla is hosting an 80’s party! Surely Bears fans are thinking, we partied in the 80’s before our last Championship and now Baby Gorilla is simulating that night, so we should win again! Another eerie comparison is both that 80’s championship team and tomorrows Bears team had players named for appliances and or military vehicles. Advantage: Bears, (aside from the gay factor of the actual SuperBowl shuffle music video itself.)
#2 If a quartback gets hurt then ……
Us Michiganders will surely perk up quickly if one of the starting passes gets wounded in the battle. Both the backup signal callers have huge ties to the thumb. Griese led us to a title in 97. Sorgi went to Fraser high school. If we were comparing them head to then Griese gets it. However Manning will not get hurt and will have a big day, hopefully not too big for Bears fans. Umtailgate Advantage: Colts
It is fairly well documented a nice chunk of our tailgate family are rather boisterous Bears fans and the Fry Dad and Friends are top notch. They actually attended last weeks contest and were instrumental in cheering the Bears to SoBe. Also don’t forget the extended Godfather family is also fairly loyal to the Bear cause as well. We wish you all the best tomorrow for sure. Umtailgate Advantage: Bears
This tips the see-saw way to the Bears side. We have tons of friends and Umtailgate fam from the Windy and not many from Indy. We love Indy and Jermaine O’Neil’s club and J.J. Reddick and Adam Morrison and Big Ten Tourney made this category closer than you might think, but at the end of the day Captain Morgan’s is thicker than meeting NBA players. Umtailgate Advantage: Bears
Final Analysis:
Bears win our rooting competition 3 to 1. We are predicting a huge game from Cedric, (like 100+ and 2 td’s). Manning throws a couple pick and hopefully we all win some of our SuperBowl Squares. Final Score: Bears 19 Colts 14.
