As most now know, we have moved.  I’d tell you where, but I think we’re going to see how things go the first few weeks before we start hosting hoards of guests.  So, send me an email after Notre Dame, and I will try to oblige.

2009 Updates from MGoBlue…

Traffic Update: Stadium Blvd. Bridges

Michigan Football Fans who use Stadium Blvd. as an entry or exit point into Ann Arbor on their trip to Michigan Stadium should be aware of an important change in traffic patterns. The Stadium Blvd. Bridge that extends over State St. has been narrowed to one lane each way due to structural concerns about the bridge span. This will impact and reduce vehicular flow both prior to and after the game. Fans should consider different points of road entry to the Michigan Stadium area in order to avoid the traffic congestion. The spans are checked and tested on a consistent basis and this shutdown could change dependent upon the results of those test. Please check back to this page for the most up-to-date information.

Parking Update: Golf Course

In order to create more parking opportunities around Michigan Stadium, the Athletic Department has created an additional parking area on the University of Michigan Golf Course. This area will be accessible off of Main Street and parking will be available on a weather permitting basis in the rough area between Holes 14, 15, and 16. This area is a short walk from Michigan Stadium and offers a fantastic tailgating opportunity for fans. Spots are first-come/first-serve and will be available beginning at 8am for a cost of $30.

Parking Update: Guests with a Disability

In the past, the athletic department was able to use the “Triangle Lot” that runs adjacent to Stadium Boulevard for an additional area for accessible parking. This parking area is actually owned by Ann Arbor Golf and Outing and is not controlled by the University. Unfortunately, for the 2009 football season, the “Triangle Lot” will no longer be available to us.

Accordingly, there will be no parking available in the
triangle lot for those with Accessible Blue Lot parking passes.

We have expanded the accessible parking area immmediately beyond the triangle area in the blue lot and you will be directed there for parking upon entering the blue lot.

Please remember that after parking in the Blue Lot handicapped area you may take advantage of the shuttle service running from the bus shelter in the blue lot to the stadium.

Miscellaneous Parking Policies and Procedures

  • The University of Michigan will not be responsible for loss or damage to vehicles or its contents parked for a football game.
  • Holders of football permits should clearly display their permits from the rearview mirror of their cars to assist parking personnel in directing them to the proper lots. Permits should be displayed at all times (even when entering the game) to avoid being towed.
  • All drivers should be alert to instructions from the uniformed police officers and parking personnel who will be directing traffic.
  • Patrons are reminded that normal parking regulations apply on game day. Vehicles parked in fire lanes, at the end of aisles, and in any other illegal location will be ticketed and/or towed. If you are unable to find a legal parking space, please see a parking attendant for assistance.
  • Spaces are available on a first-come, first serve basis. If you arrive at your designated lot and it is full, you will be directed to the next available lot.
  • Spaces may not be reserved for later arriving vehicles unless authorized by the UM Athletic Department.
  • Overnight parking is prohibited in all UM Football game-day parking lots.
  • Vehicles should vacate the lot within two hours after the game or vehicles may be towed.
  • AUTO passes allow vehicles to park in one (1) designated space.
  • RV’s passes allow RV’s 4 spaces and they must not expand past their 4 designated spaces. The full vehicle including awnings, expansion sides, mirrors, tables, chairs, coolers, etc. must stay within the lined parking spaces allotted.
  • Tailgate accessory equipment may NOT be placed in any designated parking space unless it is one of the four (4) spaces designated for an RV.
  • Tailgate equipment may not be placed into roadways/driveways in a manner in which it impedes traffic. Parking Lot personnel will have the final decision on whether it impedes traffic or not.
  • Space is very limited; throwing of footballs or other objects should be kept to minimal distances and out of roadways and other tailgater’s areas. Repeat offenders may have their objects confiscated. Please be considerate of other fans trying to park in the lot.
  • Fans may not display flags, balloons, signs or the like more than 20 feet above the parking lot surface and also may not undertake any promotional, advertising or marketing activities in UM lots without written authorization from the Athletic Department.
  • After the game, Main Street/Ann Arbor-Saline Road is one way southbound from Michigan Stadium to Interstate-94. Post-game southbound traffic along South Main Street will include stop-and-go traffic signals at the Scio Church/South Main and Ann Arbor-Saline/South Main intersections. This is intended to provide safer crossing opportunities for pedestrians. The traffic signal operation will be manually controlled and activated when pedestrians accumulate at the crosswalks.
  • For more information regarding purchasing parking permits, please call the Ticket Office at 734-764-0247. Please call the Game Operations Voice Mail at (734) 647-9977 with problems or concerns about parking operations.
