Twitter Tuesday: 8/7/2012

It's day two of practice.  It's 25 days until gameday.  It's the best of twitter from Tuesday:

I remember when Wisconsin was Indiana.  Now they have been to 8 of the 67 Big Ten appearances in the Grand Daddy, trailing only Michigan (20) and Ohio State (14).  USC (32) is the only program that has been to the Rose Bowl more than Michigan.

Yes Penn State, let's drag this out some more.  I will enjoy watching this play out in court with lawyers.  You're hemorrhaging money.

Oh ya.  Practice play-by-play on radio is a great idea.  But hey, I'll listen.

I'll take it.  I think.  Oh wait...in this era of 14 possible games, that means 9-5.

Might be time to settle the referee labor dispute.

Twitter Tuesday

Bad things can happen in 140 characters or less.

Twitter is a public forum, and counts as such in the eyes of the NCAA.  That's the lesson that Roy Roundtree and Kenny Demens will be learning the hard way, as their "shout outs" to Mike McCray, Michigan's latest verbal commit, are actually violations of NCAA rules.  Current players are not permitted to publicy contact unsigned recruits...even when they are from your former high school.

S/O to my lil brotha Mike McCray @MJM92013 for committing to Michigan today - Roy Roundtree

and

@MJM92013 Welcome to the Maize & Blue my dog. - Kenny Demens

...is all it took for the University to self report.  A couple of things here:  #1)  The NCAA needs to come up with a policy regarding social media.  These are the times we are in.  Wake up a get a handle on it.  Kids shouldn't have to be punished for connecting with their fans and connecting with other players (past and present).  There's nothing cooler than watching (reading) Desmond and Denard talk to each other.  And #2) Until there is such a policy, as much as I enjoy the inside look at the program through the tweets of the players, the Michigan policy should be NO TWEETING.

In other twitter news, Braylon took a shot across the bow and Coach Hoke and family for not recruiting his little brother Berkley.

I don't understand how my brother has the 8th (fastest) time in the country in the 60m, ran for 1800 yards last year and 20 and UofM wontcall. - Braylon Edwards

Later he calls out Carr, who he said would have missed out on him if it wasn't for "soup" aka Coach Campbell:

Love my school and I played for coach (Hoke) but call my brother before its too late and you guys miss out like Lloyd would have ifnot forsoup.

Can't see how this is going to be productive Braylon.  I also can't see how we're going to have room for an unranked all-purpose back when we're signing 4-stars by the boatload.
