Weekend Roundup: This is it Edition - 10/16/2012
/Here's what happened around the internet while the people at Ann Arbor's German Park tried to sell you on the idea that it was a Chaplin mustache back then:
- Remember our favorite turncoat and family values lover Justin Boren? Well his little brother Zach goes both ways. Innuendo intended.
- Something happened on the way to Pasadena for the Spartans...Black Heart Gold Pants celebrates it, The Only Colors picks up the pieces. And I laugh maniacally.
- Big win for OSU on Saturday over Indiana in their quest for that Leaders Division trophy and the AP National Championship. I remember when we used to have shootout wins over Indiana. I remember when I was delusional about the defense, using injuries as the excuse. I remember when RichRod addressed the defense in a special meeting. Now Urban's doing it.
- Illinois Blowout Roundup: Rittenburg: Michigan looking ahead to MSU | More Rittenburg: Purdue and MSU are in deep shit | MGoBlog Ace: Bliss | TTB: Every running back had a good game except Fitz | Maize and Brew: Woodshed | AnnArbor.com has an awesome Denard pic | MGoBlog Brian: Annual Denard vs. Illinois injury scare
- And finally....some cool pics of what it looks like when the band stops playing.
Weekend Roundup, Homecoming Edition: 10/9/2012
/Purdue was about an hour further away than I remember. And the time zone doesn't change there anymore. Maybe it never did, I don't know. Also, the away fans were not in the bleachers, at least I wasn't. Plus, Michigan kicked Purdue's ass. Denard didn't throw an interception. Maybe it was all a dream?
Here's what happened around the internets while the coaches decided to make the Big Ten into the Big East:
- Nearly two weeks old, but certainly a good read, John U. Bacon talks of the Irish taking a dump on the rivalry and selling out. My opinion? They sold out long ago. Don't let the door hit you in the ass.
- Michigan lives and dies by the turnover, not just game to game, but season to season. What you saw on Saturday was the exact same game you saw at Notre Dame, only without an egregious amount of turnovers. At Purdue...the Michigan Daily states...the turnovers went our way.
- Touch the Banner gives out the Purdue awards. It's become obvious, not just on TTB, but in many other outlets, that the shine has worn off of Fitz. Looks heavy, lost a step, etc, etc. Also, Rawls had some nice mop up time. There's about to be a shift in playing time.
- A Romney ad in Ohio via the M-Zone. I don't really like to get into politics on this blog....wait, just kidding. I'm voting for Romney. The vast majority of the members of UMTailgate are voting for Romney. And you should vote for Romney. Go Blue!
- Boiled Sports cleans up the mess at Ross-Ade.
- UMHoops helps introduce the freshman class for basketball.
- "Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL classes are POINTLESS," said Cardale Jones of Ohio.
- MGoBlog Recap channels the 70's.
- And a recap of recaps and other recaps at Maize and Brew.
Staff Predictions for Purdue
/Hey, a bye week is a bye week. Bite me.
Tuba says:
Back to the drawing board coming off the bye. I can't imagine 1. going 2-3 to start the season, 2. losing to Purdue more than once every 10 years and C. the offense not getting their shit together.
Plus, if Romney can struggle to get his own party's nomination and then obliterate the incumbent, Michigan can surely turn things around despite what appears to be a bleak outlook.
Michigan 31 Purdue 21
The Webmaster Says:
We don't lose Big Ten openers coming off a bye week (just a guess...not sure if we have even ever opened the Big Ten season coming off a bye). But we also never play well in Ross-Ade. However, we should be able to get some kind of offensive rhythm going against a defense that is susceptible to a halfway decent offense, which is what we have when we're not being stupid. Purdue will find a way to keep it close for a while, but barring any hook-and-laterals and assuming Denard will not be given the option to throw five passes let alone five interceptions...I think this is where we announce our intention to compete in this shitty league.
Michigan 38 - Purdue 16
